Run & Grad Party!

My Saturday morning started off with an early morning run with my running group.

I got in 7.5 miles in the rain. I loved running in the rain. It has been SO warm and SO humid that it felt refreshing! Then it was time to head home. We were having a graduation party for the girls and I had lots to do. I could have easily skipped the group since there was so much to be done, but this is a lifestyle. Just because things are going on around me, I still have to allow time for me.

John, Taylor (graduated HS), Kelsey (graduated UMD- criminal justice major and she has just been hired at a law firm) and Me. So proud of daughter's 3 & 4. We no longer have kids in school. Our youngest, Taylor, will be heading off to college in the fall.

Cake.

I made these graduation boards for each of my girls when they graduated HS. It is a fun way for everyone to see their school pictures from preK thru their senior year. I also included their class pictures from elementary school. All their friends enjoy the pictures too. I also make a "senior" album that includes everything that went on during their senior year. Yes, I would take a picture of their "first day" of their senior year too!! If you do not have a senior yet, just wait!! It is the most expensive and busiest year!

They have grown up so fast.

We always have to rent tables and chairs. We are blessed to know someone that owns a huge tent that we were lucky enough to borrow. I think we had about 80 people. Luckily, the weather cleared and we enjoyed some sunshine, great food, awesome family and friends and lots of corn hole!!

It was a great celebration!!! It was a very long day that ended very late. I hardly ate at all because I was just so busy entertaining and making sure everyone had what they needed. It was a great day!!

Sunday, I totally crashed. NO exercise and a NAP was much needed. It was all worth it:)

Treadmill Workout

Today was a rainy day in MD. Like pouring. So this meant my workout would be inside. Yesterday, I was really tired and just decided to take a rest day. This meant two rest days in a row. I just get panicky if I go more then a day without a workout. I have been working out regularly for over 3 years, but still have days when I worry about "falling off the wagon" so to speak!! I have learned to listen to my body but still some days are harder then others.

Totally out of bananas this morning so it was just my trusty Clif bar.

Morning snack natural almonds.

Lunch. PB on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

Afternoon snack was a Zone bar.

Stopped by the farmers market with one of my daughters and we both enjoyed a yummy banana.

Along with a few almonds.

For dinner I made myself a few whole wheat waffles and just added sugar free syrup. Should have topped them with strawberries!!!

View from my treadmill. Can my lab, Nitro, get any closer?? I think he is a tad bit jealous of the new puppy! I got on late and watched some of the OC Housewives. I wore my 10lb weighted vest (so nice to just "take off" 10 pounds!!) and walked on an incline. I continued to increase the incline and speed with each lap. This is a great workout if you do not want to run, but want to get a good sweat on! I heard about the weighted vest watching Oprah a few years ago. She had Valerie Bertinelli on her show. She had just lost a large amount of weight and she said that she wore one on the treadmill. I found mine on Amazon. I will post a picture next time. It is comfortable to wear but trust me, 10lbs is a lot of weight to carry around!! Such an eye opener!!!

Plain Tired

Well, I think the past few weeks have finally caught up with me! I am really tired. We have had so much going on with the end of the school year, and I am just wore out. I was ready to head out for a run this evening, but I just did not have the energy. I considered the treadmill but then one of my daughters told me I should just give myself a break. So instead, I finished cleaning up dinner and tried to relax. Tomorrow I hope to feel like a new person!!

Breakfast

Almonds for morning snack.

Lunch was PB sandwich on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

Zone bar while on puppy duty!! Amos is super cute and doing really well but puppies are so much work!!

My husband got this watermelon when he was on the eastern shore Sunday. I cut this open while making dinner. It was AMAZING!!!

Dinner was salad with lots of veggies, burger without the bun and a handful of chips. This is a dinner size plate.

Dessert was more watermelon!!!

Has anyone watched the new weight loss show that is on Sunday nights?? The episode last night was amazing. So inspiring. The episode really showed me the importance of weight training. I always do cardio! I feel like the pounds will creep back up if not. I also worry that I will loose what I have gained in my running if I skip a run, in favor of weight training. How do I balance this out???? Help!!

Graduation and a Puppy!

My Friday was crazy busy!!!! First of all, I had to work and eat :)

.
Breakfast banana and Clif.

Snack almonds.

Lunch

Afternoon snack Zone bar.

When I got home I grabbed a string cheese and a few pepperoni slices.

Then I got into the whole grain Wheat Thins!! Why?? We were super excited to go pick up our new puppy! It was just nervous, excited munching. Wasted calories!!!!!

Here he is!! My husband's new dog. We have a yellow lab, Nitro, who is 9. My husband was hoping he would be a hunting dog. Crazy, but our lab neither retrieves or likes water!!! Nitro is the PERFECT family dog!! He is so sweet and laid back. John has been wanting a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for a long time now and things just have a way of being meant to be!! I will post more on the new puppy tomorrow.

Our youngest daughter, Taylor was graduating high school tonight and we needed to get dinner on and get ready!! All while playing with a puppy!!

I quickly made whole wheat spaghetti, ground turkey with basil sauce. Really good! This is a salad size plate. No bread for me.

There she is, Taylor! The baby of the family. Graduated with honors.

My silly daughters. They have all made us so proud.

John and I with the grad.

Sweet girl.

It was a very late night. Enjoyed some strawberries before heading up to bed. Early morning with my running group so I needed to get some sleep!!

Busy Time!

So much goes on at the end of the school year, especially if you have a graduating senior. Our house has two graduating seniors. Our third daughter graduated from UMD a few weeks ago and our youngest daughter graduates from high school on Friday night. It seems like there is always an award show, banquet or end of the year ceremony every night!!!! Not to mention all the graduation parties to attend on the weekends. This makes for a jam packed calendar. I think after this week, things are going to settle down around here. There is so much I need to get caught up with around the house, and I hope to get started on that this weekend!!

Someone loves me at Starbucks this morning:)

Breakfast.

Lunch.

Snack around 2pm.

100 calorie pretzels. I had to rush to my neighbors this afternoon. We all thought that she might be going into labor but it was a false alarm. While getting her boys off the bus and listening for their youngest to wake from a nap, I spotted these on their kitchen table. I NEVER buy pretzels. I would plow through these if they were in my house. Proud of myself for counting out a serving size.

Back at my house and I made myself a treat and I knew I was NOT hungry. Why???

We had an awards show to get to tonight so dinner was super easy.  I made myself an omelet (1 egg/ 2 egg whites) with light cheese and turkey bacon. I also had a thin bagel 110 calories/  little butter. So good!!!

Off to the senior awards show.

The awards show was over 2 hours long!!!! Walked in the door at almost 10pm. I should have just headed up to bed but I grabbed one of these. I never usually eat anything past 7 :(

Sugar Sugar

Let me just say that I did enjoy myself greatly this weekend in the food department! Wow, is it every hard to get yourself back in control especially with sugar. I enjoyed cake and numerous cookies (along with some amazing food) both Saturday and Sunday, that today I have really been craving it!! Wanting sugar and sleep is not a good combination. I have been trying my best today into the food department but my "Running Streak" has ended. Sunday, was my daughters baby shower and with so much going on, I honestly forgot about it. Today, I was just too tired and a late afternoon nap was much needed. I knew that I was so tired that even if I went for a run, I would raid the pantry once I walked in the door. So the nap won.

Breakfast

Lunch was PB on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

100 calorie popcorn.

Late snack

Enjoyed these with dinner.

Dinner was 110 calorie bagel thin,  a 1 egg/2 egg white omelet with 1/4 cup light cheese. I added just a little butter to the bagel.

After dinner, I have to confess that I ate an entire half a watermelon. Well, most of it anyone!! I guess it could have been worse.

Tomorrow is a new day!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the Baby Shower post:)
