Color Me Lucky

I have had the best week ever!! So many exciting things happening to this blogger:) First things first: this morning I got up and did an hour long workout on the treadmill. I wore my weighted vest, walking using different speeds and inclines, all the while watching a little of the Today Show. I knew I had a lot going on today so I figured if I did not workout this morning it would not happen. So glad I did!!

Breakfast. I love a good Clif bar:)

1/4 cup trail mix.

Lunch was the usual.

After work I enjoyed Newman's Own Peanut Butter Cups. They were VERY good!

I threw dinner together tonight. I had a few sweet potatoes that I sliced up and then baked. We had leftover chicken from last night mixed with peppers and onions on a 100 calorie tortilla. I love quick and easy meals. My husband enjoyed a salad but I did not feel like one tonight.

I had a busy afternoon getting things done around the house. Plus, I got some of my packing started! I love vacations. Wish the entire family could come, but now that these college graduates have REAL jobs, they have a hard time taking off work!!

I love running at the beach!! It is one of the things I look forward to most. My husband rides his bike while I enjoy a good run. Boardwalk running is so fun too!

I wanted something sweet and this worked well for me tonight, but then I wanted something salty.....

Handful of almonds. I hate eating after 7pm but I felt like it!!

So, on to my exciting blog week: first skinnyrunner shared a picture of me on her blog (seriously, over 1200 hits on my blog that day) and today I WON color me rad 5k entry from happyfitmama!!! I won 2 entries!!! Super excited! When I entered, I told my daughter Kelsey how cool this race was and if I did win, she was running it with me! When I logged on this morning to see that I had won, I raced to her room waking her up so excited to tell her!! It will be fun to post pictures of this race. Can't wait:)

Plain Tired

Well, I think the past few weeks have finally caught up with me! I am really tired. We have had so much going on with the end of the school year, and I am just wore out. I was ready to head out for a run this evening, but I just did not have the energy. I considered the treadmill but then one of my daughters told me I should just give myself a break. So instead, I finished cleaning up dinner and tried to relax. Tomorrow I hope to feel like a new person!!

Breakfast

Almonds for morning snack.

Lunch was PB sandwich on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

Zone bar while on puppy duty!! Amos is super cute and doing really well but puppies are so much work!!

My husband got this watermelon when he was on the eastern shore Sunday. I cut this open while making dinner. It was AMAZING!!!

Dinner was salad with lots of veggies, burger without the bun and a handful of chips. This is a dinner size plate.

Dessert was more watermelon!!!

Has anyone watched the new weight loss show that is on Sunday nights?? The episode last night was amazing. So inspiring. The episode really showed me the importance of weight training. I always do cardio! I feel like the pounds will creep back up if not. I also worry that I will loose what I have gained in my running if I skip a run, in favor of weight training. How do I balance this out???? Help!!

Graduation and a Puppy!

My Friday was crazy busy!!!! First of all, I had to work and eat :)

.
Breakfast banana and Clif.

Snack almonds.

Lunch

Afternoon snack Zone bar.

When I got home I grabbed a string cheese and a few pepperoni slices.

Then I got into the whole grain Wheat Thins!! Why?? We were super excited to go pick up our new puppy! It was just nervous, excited munching. Wasted calories!!!!!

Here he is!! My husband's new dog. We have a yellow lab, Nitro, who is 9. My husband was hoping he would be a hunting dog. Crazy, but our lab neither retrieves or likes water!!! Nitro is the PERFECT family dog!! He is so sweet and laid back. John has been wanting a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for a long time now and things just have a way of being meant to be!! I will post more on the new puppy tomorrow.

Our youngest daughter, Taylor was graduating high school tonight and we needed to get dinner on and get ready!! All while playing with a puppy!!

I quickly made whole wheat spaghetti, ground turkey with basil sauce. Really good! This is a salad size plate. No bread for me.

There she is, Taylor! The baby of the family. Graduated with honors.

My silly daughters. They have all made us so proud.

John and I with the grad.

Sweet girl.

It was a very late night. Enjoyed some strawberries before heading up to bed. Early morning with my running group so I needed to get some sleep!!

Stormy Weather

Today is one of those days when I wish I was a morning runner. I put off my run to get some things done around the house, (grocery shopping, vacuuming, laundry) but I waited too long. A storm developed late this afternoon that forced me to get on the treadmill. I HATE running on my treadmill, so I ended up walking with the weighted vest and some incline. After 45 minutes, I did some weight training. All in all it was a good workout.

Breakfast. All out of bananas:(

A few Triscuits left for a morning snack.

Lunch

A nice treat for myself.

Late afternoon snack. Yay, I got to the store for bananas!

Dinner was pork loin, small baked potato, one slice wheat french bread and edamame.
This is a salad size plate.

I also enjoyed some fresh strawberries for dessert!! Yummy :)

Back in the Game

Today has been awesome. The weather has been beautiful the past few days and perfect conditions for running. Tonight I got in a great 4 mile run. I also enjoy the fields of corn coming up that I run past. I love summer:)

Breakfast. It works for me during my work week. Easy and filling.

Lunch. PB on ww, string cheese and Triscuits. This also works for me. I only work until 2pm each day. I do not get a real lunch break so I have to eat at my desk with patients coming in.

Protein bars work for me because it is a control amount of food.

Excited that I controlled my portion size with the watermelon today.

Date night with my husband at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It started with chips and salsa but I was so proud of my self control tonight. I enjoyed them but just a few.

Dinner was chicken fajitas. I made myself two and enjoyed the rice and beans. John finished the rest. Love date night. So nice to go out for an early dinner alone. We have been crazy busy lately so this was a nice treat.

When we got home I finished this off!! Still have a small sugar craving. This watermelon tasted so good. Like candy. I love when that happens!!

Should have thought about that watermelon before I headed out for my run tonight!! I could feel the water jiggling in my tummy!!!

Sugar Sugar

Let me just say that I did enjoy myself greatly this weekend in the food department! Wow, is it every hard to get yourself back in control especially with sugar. I enjoyed cake and numerous cookies (along with some amazing food) both Saturday and Sunday, that today I have really been craving it!! Wanting sugar and sleep is not a good combination. I have been trying my best today into the food department but my "Running Streak" has ended. Sunday, was my daughters baby shower and with so much going on, I honestly forgot about it. Today, I was just too tired and a late afternoon nap was much needed. I knew that I was so tired that even if I went for a run, I would raid the pantry once I walked in the door. So the nap won.

Breakfast

Lunch was PB on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

100 calorie popcorn.

Late snack

Enjoyed these with dinner.

Dinner was 110 calorie bagel thin,  a 1 egg/2 egg white omelet with 1/4 cup light cheese. I added just a little butter to the bagel.

After dinner, I have to confess that I ate an entire half a watermelon. Well, most of it anyone!! I guess it could have been worse.

Tomorrow is a new day!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the Baby Shower post:)
