Anniversary!!

Today my husband and I celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary!!

Sept. 6, 1985

Today 2012.  Love love him.

My morning started off early with a 4 mile workout on the treadmill. I knew today was going to be busy so I figured I would get my mileage out of the way. My ankle was sore but not painful.

I was a nice sweaty mess. Then I needed to shower and get to work. I have to admit that I am not one to workout in the mornings, but it did feel good!!
,

My food journal for the day. I enjoyed another Starbucks pumpkin spice latte. I have a feeling this could get dangerous!!

My grandson came to visit me at work today!! He is SO CUTE!!!

I worked until 5 today and then headed over to a new yoga studio that I have been wanting to try out. So much running and not much of anything else. I figured yoga would help me with some stretching and prevent injury as my mileage increases. My last yoga class was almost a year ago.

The studio is on Main Street downtown. I love the old historic buildings. There are some really cute shops and a coffee house right next door.

Located on the second floor, the room was small but warm and cozy. There were two other people along with the instructor. It was like getting a private class!! Once our mats were laid out we were each given warm damp washcloths to wipe our hands and feet of any oils. The class lasted an hour and I loved the instructor. She, along with her cousin are the owners. I was worried that I would be a little rusty, but she assured me that I did great. The poses felt so good as did the stretching and breathing. Once a week class is  a must for me!!! Now I just need to get on the strength training wagon:)

Goals

1. Yoga once a week.
2. Strength train once a week.
3. Long run once a week.
4. Continue with my marathon training during the week.

My husband had a long day at work and I knew he was so tired, but he offered to take me for some frozen yogurt. It was the perfect way to celebrate being married to my best friend:)

PDR & Virtual Run!!

My morning started super early!!!

Sorry this picture is so dark, but its a picture of my pre-run food, a slice of toast with peanut butter. It was taken at 5:40 this morning.  I started my run at 6:30 and ran the first 3 miles alone. It was a beautiful morning and I enjoyed the alone miles lost in my thoughts. Happily, Jen, Krista and Sarah were there to join for my next 12 miles. It was a hilly run, but enjoyable.

They offered to join me on this long run even though they aren't training for a marathon. They understand how hard long runs can be- especially alone. Mile 7 brought some welcomed rain. It felt great and I felt renewed. Crazy how running can be an amazing stress reliever. I have been going through many changes and not handling them too well. Running has helped me to center myself for what is to come. At mile 10, two of the ladies needed to head home, but Krista was kind enough to continue on. Seriously- running and chatting help the miles to flow. Sadly, I was alone for my my last 2 miles. All I could think was, "Wow, I am still running after 13 miles!"

15 MILES!!!!

Woohoo, I did it! I finished in 2:49:47 with an average of 11:19 per mile. It is a training run and I needed to get the mileage in. My ankle is not 100% but it has felt the best it has in a few weeks!!! Considering this was a training run and my ankle is sssssooooorrrrrreeeeee, I am satisfied with my time.

My well earned post run treat:) So happy that I did not deal with any tummy issues!

This run was also my Virtual Labor Day Run!! I hope I win something!!

Productivity

John and I were up bright and early this morning. My ankle was sore from my run yesterday but not as bad as it had been last Wednesday morning, so I was happy about that. I have a five miler planned in the afternoon tomorrow, so I may get it taped again to see if that will help. Today is a rest day for my ankle for sure.

Breakfast was a stop at Panera. I was still in my flannel PJs, so my husband went in and grabbed a few multi grain bagels. We sat in the Jeep and enjoyed them before going thru the Starbucks drive thru. I wanted to take my husband for a little drive this morning. Since joining my running group about 8 months ago, I have wanted to show him some of the routes we run. He could not believe some of the hills we endure and was not too happy with some of the very narrow streets. I assured him that since we run so early in the morning the traffic is very very light. I was excited to show him where we run and I know that he is proud of me:)

Once we got back to the house it was time to get busy. Since the weather in MD today was kinda crazy (one minute it was sunny and beautiful, the next it was pouring down rain), it was not worth making plans to be outdoors. First up was the pantry. I completely emptied it. Then I vacuumed every crumb I could find before organizing/tossing and putting everything back. The hall closet was next and then I tackled the large shoe bucket in the garage. I cannot begin to tell you how many shoes we have with so many girls! We have always taken our shoes off in the garage before entering our house. This is why we have a "shoe bucket." Seriously, the flip flop situation is out of control!!! I had someone say that my garage looked like an orphanage because of all the shoes! I had laundry going most of the afternoon only stopping to switch things to the dryer and folding. This job lead me to several drawers in the kitchen. I have always had a "school" drawer. Well, I went through that drawer, and by the time I was done it was empty! I no longer have a school drawer. Tomorrow is the first day of school for our county, and for the first time in 20 years I will not have child going............wow.

Lunch was a Subway veggie on whole wheat with a bag of baked chips.

My treat for the day. I love a York every once in a while.

Dinner started with a salad.

I also enjoyed a bowl of high fiber Progresso bean soup.

Grabbed an apple on the way up tonight for my dessert. I have lots of laundry to put away. Today was a super productive day and will make going to work in the morning much easier.

Do you enjoy a productive weekend??

FAB Saturday!

I always love a good weekend!!

Early morning run!! Got in a 13 miler with this girl.....

Jess. She ran the MCM last year and offered to meet for a few of my long runs. We had a great time touring Westminster. We ran through McDaniel College and all of its beautiful sidewalks and even ran one lap around their track while the football team was practicing. We headed into old town Main Street and ran past all the beautiful shops and the amazing smell of the bakery before ending at a small airport. Saturday morning in MD could not have been more perfect for a run. Low humidity and cool temps make for a fun enjoyable run with my awesome company!! Thanks Jess!!!

After today's run I felt really good. Like good where I did not feel the need to get home for a nap or a mad dash to the bathroom!! I think the weather being so nice had a lot to do with it. So after my run I stopped at Starbucks for my green tea. I took my jeep to emissions. I headed back to Main Street for a bagel. I visited two of those neat shops I saw while running. I stopped by my daughters house for a quick visit before I headed home to shower!!!  That is how good I felt!!

Foam roller meet compression socks. Compression socks meet foam roller.

After I showered I put on my socks and did some foam rolling. I would really like to get a pair of the sleeve compressions. They just cover your calves and great for wearing under jeans. I would even wear them to bed. Definitely on my wish list!!

Then it was time to head to our friends for a Caribbean Feast!! A chef was coming to their house and preparing an amazing meal and we need to look the part. Here I am with "April" the hostess!! It was also a treat for all four of my daughters to be there!

The house was decorated with a Caribbean theme and the food smelt amazing!! April and Joe know how to throw a party. Plenty of food, drinks and awesome company.

Yes, I wore my compressions socks with flip flops. This is why I need the sleeves! lol

My daughter Jennifer. She just had a baby 4 weeks ago!!!!

Now for the FOOD!!!

AMAZING!!!! Not even sure I got a picture of everything!!!

I started off with this beautiful salad.

The mashed potatoes were my favorite. They have apples, eggs and onions! The tasted so good!! There was also some beautiful cake for dessert along with some gluten free cupcakes! I did enjoy a few of those:)

No margaritas for me, but I did add an umbrella to my Starbucks!

Thank you Prevost Family for throwing an amazing dinner party!!!!!!!!!

Track Workout

Today has been an awesome busy day!! I decided not to post all my food even though I have taken a picture of everything I have eaten. I feel really in control of my choices and that is a great feeling. Plus, I was really happy with my weigh in this morning. I will share a few pictures though!

Yesterday I roasted some veggies. I had a few zucchini and yellow squash from my garden that I needed to do something with before they went bad. I added some broccoli and red onion. Wish I had some red pepper:(

YUM! These are so good to have on hand to toss on salads or the tortilla pizzas I like to make.

My husband hung the vase that we bought on Saturday.  I wrote about all the awesome shops we went to on this post. I decided to put a candle with some sand in the bottom. I love how it looks!! It is right by the front door and it looks perfect.

I got off work early today to go spend some time with this little guy. He is so sweet!! My grandson Ty will be 3 weeks old on Friday. I helped my daughter get a few things done around her house. My daughter is so much like me and likes things neat and in its place, so having a newborn brings challenges. After some laundry, vacuuming and organizing things were back to normal. We even gave Tyler a bath. He has so much hair!!! After a few hours it was time for me to go. I was meeting two ladies from my running group at the high school track for a run.

Pre-run. I had to make a stop at the Starbucks on my way. A green tea and banana was a must! Plus, I wanted to use the bathroom one more time.

We met at 4:30 and when I say it was hot and humid, it was HOT and HUMID!! I have never done a speed workout and not sure I did that great. I still have so much to learn!!! We got in 6 miles. It was grueling. Seriously, a hot sweaty mess!! I felt so good when it was done.

Wish we could do this every Wednesday night!!

My sweet husband ordered me a veggie sub for dinner and it was so nice to walk in the door to this!! I only ate half and told my hubs to put it in his lunch tomorrow. I had eyes on my dessert!

The watermelon was so refreshing!!! I also enjoyed a cookie from Subway too. I have never had one and it was sooooo good!! Well, I had great day!!!

What workout did you do today???

Are you enjoying the Olympics???
