FAB Saturday!

I always love a good weekend!!

Early morning run!! Got in a 13 miler with this girl.....

Jess. She ran the MCM last year and offered to meet for a few of my long runs. We had a great time touring Westminster. We ran through McDaniel College and all of its beautiful sidewalks and even ran one lap around their track while the football team was practicing. We headed into old town Main Street and ran past all the beautiful shops and the amazing smell of the bakery before ending at a small airport. Saturday morning in MD could not have been more perfect for a run. Low humidity and cool temps make for a fun enjoyable run with my awesome company!! Thanks Jess!!!

After today's run I felt really good. Like good where I did not feel the need to get home for a nap or a mad dash to the bathroom!! I think the weather being so nice had a lot to do with it. So after my run I stopped at Starbucks for my green tea. I took my jeep to emissions. I headed back to Main Street for a bagel. I visited two of those neat shops I saw while running. I stopped by my daughters house for a quick visit before I headed home to shower!!!  That is how good I felt!!

Foam roller meet compression socks. Compression socks meet foam roller.

After I showered I put on my socks and did some foam rolling. I would really like to get a pair of the sleeve compressions. They just cover your calves and great for wearing under jeans. I would even wear them to bed. Definitely on my wish list!!

Then it was time to head to our friends for a Caribbean Feast!! A chef was coming to their house and preparing an amazing meal and we need to look the part. Here I am with "April" the hostess!! It was also a treat for all four of my daughters to be there!

The house was decorated with a Caribbean theme and the food smelt amazing!! April and Joe know how to throw a party. Plenty of food, drinks and awesome company.

Yes, I wore my compressions socks with flip flops. This is why I need the sleeves! lol

My daughter Jennifer. She just had a baby 4 weeks ago!!!!

Now for the FOOD!!!

AMAZING!!!! Not even sure I got a picture of everything!!!

I started off with this beautiful salad.

The mashed potatoes were my favorite. They have apples, eggs and onions! The tasted so good!! There was also some beautiful cake for dessert along with some gluten free cupcakes! I did enjoy a few of those:)

No margaritas for me, but I did add an umbrella to my Starbucks!

Thank you Prevost Family for throwing an amazing dinner party!!!!!!!!!

Morning Run

Yes, I jumped off the ground for this pic! I just finished a 10 miler with my running group. It was a very HILLY course and it was a great training run. Now I am home, showered and wearing my compression socks. Now my weekend can begin.

Happy Saturday!!

Rainy Run

So happy to be getting back in the groove of things. Today has been an awesome Saturday. It started with a 6am morning run with my running group. It was raining pretty heavily when we started out, but I LOVE running in the rain. The past two Saturdays it has been raining, so I have been fine with that.We decided on 8 miles and I felt great starting out. I really enjoy the people that I have been running with. They are amazing runners and great motivators. We had some major hills that I rocked thanks to them!!! My right knee started to really act up at mile 7. Not bad enough that I felt the need to stop, but it did worry me.

8 rainy miles!! Loved it.

Breakfast was a banana and Clif bar.

After my run, even though I was a hot sweaty mess, I headed to the grocery store. I really needed to go and it was early enough that I knew it would not be too crowded. I did get a few stares, but who cares! I was so COLD in the store since my clothes/socks were wet and the AC, that I grabbed a hot chocolate from Starbucks.
Skim milk, no whip.

I foamed rolled and put on my compression socks to wear for the rest of the day. I hope that this will help with the knee pain I had during my run today.

Protein shake.

After I showered and got all the groceries but away, we headed to the hospital. There was a little someone that I could not wait to get my hands on!!

OMG, he is the sweetest thing ever!!!

The proud grandparents xoxo

Late afternoon lunch. Turkey, pepperjack cheese, lettuce and olive oil mayo on whole wheat. Strawberries, 6 triscuits and some fresh guac.

After lunch, we took this girl, daughter #3 shopping!! She starts her new job at a law firm in a few days and she needs "big girl" clothes.  This college grad needs a new wardrobe to go with that degree. Nordstrom was having a great sale!! She purchased 3 pairs of shoes at Nordstrom and also got some great deals at Ann Taylor and the Limited. She reminded me of Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman, "Big mistake. Huge. I have to go shopping now!"

We got home kinda late and I needed to get dinner going. I grabbed these veggie burgers at the store and decided to try one out. I loved it!!

I enjoyed it on a whole wheat bun with a handful of chips.

I had a great day today. It started with my alarm at 5:15am and am now headed to bed at 10:30pm. It was the perfect Saturday!!

I should probably get a black pair!!

My usual weekday breakfast.

Lunch was triscuits, string cheese and...

PB sandwich on ww.

Makes a great dessert!

Late afternoon snack of string cheese and strawberries.

Hard boiled eggs for the week. A nice "go to" food.

Beef stew for dinner! Now it just needs to simmer:)

So good! Added a slice of ww french bread with butter.

Banana frosty for after dinner treat!!

My race metals!! 2 -10 milers and 5 halfs- along with many 5k, 10ks and trail runs:) I am ready to sign up for my trails runs that I have done the past two summers!!

Getting FASTER!

I set another PR!!!! Super excited and the race could not have gone better!!! Managed to get a great night sleep before the alarm at 5:15. Everything was all laid out the night before so it was smooth sailing out the door.

Pre race food in the car. Only managed half the banana. The drive to the race was only about 30 minutes. There was a big backup to park in the grassy fields, but we had plenty of time to spare. 7500 runners today!

The weather was cloudy and overcast with some sprinkles. Perfect weather to run. I started in a long line for the porta johns, when a gentleman approached us and said to follow him. He unlocked the side door of another building where there was a beautiful, spotless, amazing bathroom!! I was able to use this bathroom 3 times before the race with the start line just a few yards away. Seriously, it does not get any better then that!!!!

The course was awesome. So many in the community came out to cheer us on. The half miler ran us through downtown Frederick and neighboring communities. The volunteers were amazing! They had plenty of water stops. I even saw several residents had signs saying we could use their bathroom in their home!

Even though it was cloudy and misty, it was very HUMID. I had my hair in a braided ponytail and I had sweat dripping off the braid down my back.

Running is so mental for me. Just talking to myself the entire time to keep going. I was amazed how great I felt even though I had run a half just a week ago.

I still can't believe that I PRd again!!!!!! My Garmin said 2:19 but my official race time was 2:20. That is 3 minutes faster then last week and my best half time so far:) I think my average was 10:32 mm.

Jess and I ran together for about the first 7 miles! She got tired of running with the old lady and set out for her own PR! Jess ran the Marine Corp Marathon in the fall. My inspiration.

Notice all my metals??
Running two halfs in a week makes me a Titanium Girl :)

My husband enjoyed my free beverage coupons! I was excited to see him along the course at mile 3.

The food after the race was awesome and provided by Wegmans again. The food rocked. Plenty for all the runners and there were no lines. After running 13.1 miles you do not want to stand in a line!! I had a banana and half a plain bagel with plenty of water.

We stopped for breakfast on our way home at a cute diner near our home. I had a vegetarian omelet without cheese and two slices of ww toast.

The weather for the rest of the day continued to be cloudy. A perfect day for a nap. While I napped the family ordered some pizza.
Super thin crust veggie. So good but not super hungry.

Found these in the cabinet today!! Nice single serving size bag:)

Dinner ended up being another slice of pizza.

Enjoyed some tootsies tonight!! Not sure why but I was craving sugar:)

A nice warm bath and comfy pjs round out my great day. Sleeping with my compression socks on for sure. Plan to do some foam rolling before I hit the bed and watch Amazing Race!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
