Clean Eating

The weather has been very HOT in Maryland!! Friday evening several strong storms moved through the area, causing several thousand residents to loose electricity. Thankfully, when we returned from vacation late Saturday afternoon, we still had electricity, but more importantly, we had AC!! Many residents have been told that it may take up to 7 days for it to be restored!!

My Sunday morning started off bright and early. I always feel better when everything is unpacked and laundry done, so this morning I got everything back in its place, and I could start my day.

My husband had plans to take the puppy, Amos, down to the river on our boat. He wanted to see how this little guy would like it. Word has it that he loved it and that makes for a happy hub!

Since Saturday was a rest day for me, I wanted to hit the road runnin. I knew I needed to go early with the heat, but was not expecting it to be as warm as it was. I was glad I took water with me. I had wanted to get in 5 miles, but cut it back to 3.5.

After I got back, I took a quick shower and made myself breakfast.

Two slices of whole wheat toast with all natural PB, sprinkled with chia seeds.

How cute is my chia jar. I purchased this at Anthropologie. I think it is so cute that I may buy another one:)

Lunch was a big salad that I topped with black beans, 2% cheese and tortilla strips.

After lunch I had a few errands to do and I did not mind some alone time! I hit up Ulta (why, oh why, do I continue to return to that store when they are always out of the products I need!!) Then I stopped by Target to get a few things and picked up a bag of trail mix. I opened this in the car and had just a few handfuls. A serving size is 1/4 cup and I could have eatin half of the bag if I wasn't careful.

For dinner I made some of my own hummus. It was pretty good and I enjoyed a few Triscuits with it.

I also enjoyed a nice salad (cucumber from my garden!) and a ground turkey soft taco. Nothing great but filling. I was surprised that I did not even finish the salad. I just wasn't hungry. I really focused today on eating clean and trying to stay away from processed foods. On vacation we ate all our meals in except for pizza one night, but I really had too much candy (tootsie rolls, swedish fish, taffy) if you remember! Well, my vacation is over and now is time for sugar detox!!

Now for some exciting news!! Daughter #2, Kaitlyn Marie, got engaged Thursday night!! She is 23 years old and a project accountant. Brent, her fiance, is an engineer and they both graduated from the University of Maryland. We are so excited for them!!

Back to work tomorrow!!

Sunday Eats

I started off my morning with a banana.

John made me an egg, light English muffin and a slice of ham. I love Sunday!

1/4 cup trail mix.

Lunch was turkey, Swiss, lettuce, light mayo on ww. I also enjoyed a bag of 150 cal. chips.

Cookie:)

I enjoyed several bowls of watermelon and strawberries. So good. The watermelon seriously tasted like candy. I know I ate way too much of it today but it was so good.

Once again dinner started with a huge salad full of veggies.

Dinner was London broil with 2 slices of french bread.

Could you resist??? LOL

Today was another awesome day. I enjoyed a 3 mile run again tonight then jumped on my bike for a few miles. Great workout to start off my week!

Just What I Ate

Breakfast in the car. Clif and Banana joined me:)

Lunch was a foot long veggie on ww with yellow mustard, one bag (150 cal) chips.

Afternoon treat. This tootsie roll is 2 serving:(

Dinner started off with an amazing salad with fresh quac. I am loving this Ken's dressing.

Oven stuffer roaster and a slice of wheat bread.

Started this book today. I have heard good things, so I will let you know what I think!!

After dinner, daughter Kelsey offered to go for a run with me. Just a quick 3 miles that felt awesome. The past few days have been so hot that I have been on the treadmill. So happy that it has cooled down some.

Late night snack of Swedish Fish. So proud that I divided up the huge bag into serving sizes!

Another Hot One

Wow, today was HOT in MD!! Heat advisory kept me on the treadmill again today.  Had I gone for an early run this morning I would have been okay but I chose sleep instead!

Love the sticker on my banana this morning:)

Ate my Clif once I got to the office.

This is a snack size baggie. I mixed some almonds and dark chocolate chips.

Lunch was PB sandwich on ww, string cheese and Triscuits.

Afternoon snack was a Kashi bar.

When I got home from work I MEASURED out a 1/4 cup of trail mix. Woohoo!

Dinner started with fresh strawberries. We all enjoyed these. They were so good!

Salad with lots of veggies.

Dinner was chicken with dijon mustard/slivered almonds, Alexia onion rings and a slice of whole wheat french bread (totally not necessary). I did not finish all the chicken because it was pretty big. This is a salad size plate.

After dinner I got a few things done around the house including laundry, vacuuming and I managed to get one of the bathrooms cleaned. This caused me to get on the treadmill after 8 and I stayed on for an hour. Good workout. Late workout!!

Super late treat thanks to daughter #3!! Not too bad. I think the bag contains 7 tootsie roll midgees and 120 calories. She was so sweet to surprise me with them so I had to eat them!!!

Getting FASTER!

I set another PR!!!! Super excited and the race could not have gone better!!! Managed to get a great night sleep before the alarm at 5:15. Everything was all laid out the night before so it was smooth sailing out the door.

Pre race food in the car. Only managed half the banana. The drive to the race was only about 30 minutes. There was a big backup to park in the grassy fields, but we had plenty of time to spare. 7500 runners today!

The weather was cloudy and overcast with some sprinkles. Perfect weather to run. I started in a long line for the porta johns, when a gentleman approached us and said to follow him. He unlocked the side door of another building where there was a beautiful, spotless, amazing bathroom!! I was able to use this bathroom 3 times before the race with the start line just a few yards away. Seriously, it does not get any better then that!!!!

The course was awesome. So many in the community came out to cheer us on. The half miler ran us through downtown Frederick and neighboring communities. The volunteers were amazing! They had plenty of water stops. I even saw several residents had signs saying we could use their bathroom in their home!

Even though it was cloudy and misty, it was very HUMID. I had my hair in a braided ponytail and I had sweat dripping off the braid down my back.

Running is so mental for me. Just talking to myself the entire time to keep going. I was amazed how great I felt even though I had run a half just a week ago.

I still can't believe that I PRd again!!!!!! My Garmin said 2:19 but my official race time was 2:20. That is 3 minutes faster then last week and my best half time so far:) I think my average was 10:32 mm.

Jess and I ran together for about the first 7 miles! She got tired of running with the old lady and set out for her own PR! Jess ran the Marine Corp Marathon in the fall. My inspiration.

Notice all my metals??
Running two halfs in a week makes me a Titanium Girl :)

My husband enjoyed my free beverage coupons! I was excited to see him along the course at mile 3.

The food after the race was awesome and provided by Wegmans again. The food rocked. Plenty for all the runners and there were no lines. After running 13.1 miles you do not want to stand in a line!! I had a banana and half a plain bagel with plenty of water.

We stopped for breakfast on our way home at a cute diner near our home. I had a vegetarian omelet without cheese and two slices of ww toast.

The weather for the rest of the day continued to be cloudy. A perfect day for a nap. While I napped the family ordered some pizza.
Super thin crust veggie. So good but not super hungry.

Found these in the cabinet today!! Nice single serving size bag:)

Dinner ended up being another slice of pizza.

Enjoyed some tootsies tonight!! Not sure why but I was craving sugar:)

A nice warm bath and comfy pjs round out my great day. Sleeping with my compression socks on for sure. Plan to do some foam rolling before I hit the bed and watch Amazing Race!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
